Introduction

The Keen Home Pro Monitor is a product capable of sensing specific data from an HVAC system and alerting technicians and homeowners of anomalies and potentially serious HVAC issues. Additionally, the Keen Home Pro Monitor allows qualified technicians to remotely control HVAC equipment to perform heating and cooling pre-season tests. The monitor can send data either through Wi-Fi or a cellular network. A dedicated crypto authentication chip ensures data security.

The Keen Home Pro Monitor is designed for conventional, residential HVAC equipment (central heat furnace, central A/C systems, and heat pumps).

The system provides monitoring, control, integration, and advanced artificial intelligence capabilities to make an HVAC technician’s job more efficient and productive.

The Keen Home Pro Contractor™ Portal can be accessed at: contractor.keenhome.io. For app/portal login support, please contact your office administrator.

Keen Home Pro Monitor - Installation Preparation

The Keen Home Pro Monitor is available in either cellular or Wi-Fi configurations.
Note: the fifth digit in the serial number designates cellular (C) or Wi-Fi (W)

1. Download the Keen Home Pro Technician™ app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
2. Follow the instructions on the First Time Users card to setup your account.
3. Complete the installation setup and return back to this guide when you are ready to connect the equipment and install the Keen Home Pro Monitor sensors.

Keen Home Pro Monitor - Sensor Installation

Determine an appropriate location for the sensors and Keen Home Pro Monitor.

• Turn off all power to the HVAC equipment.

• Mount the monitor onto or near the HVAC equipment.

• The included adhesive-backed magnets allow for convenient removal of the monitor for wiring after mounting.

Ensure each sensor's wire length is adequate to reach the monitor's mounting location.

A: Supply Air Sensor
B: Return Air Sensor
C: Suction and Liquid Line Sensors
D: Condensate Switch (Optional)

Power OFF the equipment and begin installing the supply and return air sensors by drilling a 3/16" hole in the return and supply air plenums.

• Mount the sensors in the center of the ductwork, taking care to select a location that does not provide a direct line of sight to the coil or heat exchanger.

• Insert each sensor into the drilled hole and secure it with a sheet metal screw.

• Connect the wiring to the Monitor's SA and RA terminals.

Install the liquid line & suction line sensors near the evaporator coil.

• Red - Liquid Line: Clamp the sensor onto the liquid line near the coil.

• Blue - Suction Line: Insert under suction line insulation, and use the included zip tie to secure the suction line sensor.

• Insulate the suction line sensor for thermal protection.

• Connect the wiring to the monitor’s LL and SL terminals.

Install Optional Condensate Switch

• Attach any normally closed condensate switch to the monitor’s CS terminals.

Complete the condensate switch installation and alert activation or deactivation at the end of the installation process in the technician app.

Wire to the furnace or air handler, per the diagrams below, once the sensor installation is complete.

Keen Home Pro Monitor - Equipment Wiring

The "R," or power wire from the thermostat connects to the monitor’s "ES" terminal, enabling emergency remote shutdown and equipment control during remote testing sessions. The "R" connection from the indoor equipment connects to the monitor’s "R" terminal.

Furnace / Dual Fuel Wiring

The diagram above considers that the indoor unit connects to the outdoor unit via the Y and C connections.

*O connection for traditional dual-fuel applications only. The monitor’s W/O terminal connects to the W terminal as shown for furnace testing in heating mode.

In dual-fuel applications, the indoor unit connects to the outdoor unit via the R, C, W, O, and Y connections.

Air Handler Wiring

The diagram above considers that the indoor unit connects to the outdoor unit via the R, C, W, Y and O connections.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Connect the monitor’s “W/O” terminal to the equipment’s reversing valve.

Once the wiring is complete, apply power to the HVAC system and return to Keen Home Pro Technician app to complete the final installation steps.

Notify the consumer that their system may turn on and off while performing heating & cooling testing.

During the five-minute testing process, tidy up the wiring and clean the area.

After a successful installation, the monitor generates an Installation Report.

• The report appears in your company's Keen Home Pro Contractor  Portal (contractor.keenhome.io) and the consumer's Keen Home Pro Homeowner app.

FAQs

Q: I did not receive a welcome email with instructions for downloading and registering the Keen Home Pro Technician mobile app.

A: Please ask your office administrator to resend you the invitation from the Keen Home Pro Contractor Portal.

Q: How does the customer activate a Keen Home Pro Homeowner account?

A: Once the technician inputs the homeowner’s email in the technician app, the homeownwer will receive an email invite for the homeowner app. If the customer does not download the app immediately, selecting the customer's name in the contractor portal brings up a screen that allows for resending the Keen Home Pro Homeowner app invitation.

Q: When installing a Wi-Fi monitor, I see two available Wi-Fi networks, a 2.4GHz, and a 5GHz network. Which one should I use?

A: Use the 2.4GHz network to pair the monitor. Most routers use a technology which only displays a single network name and enables intelligent switching between 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies.

Q: I am at the site but cannot start the installation process using the Keen Home Pro Technician app.

A: Please confirm you are running the latest version of the mobile app and have logged in with the correct credentials. If you need further support on the issue, please use the support options in the mobile app to chat, email, or call.

Q: The monitor does not appear as a device in Bluetooth pairing mode in my Keen Home Pro Technician app.

A: Ensure that your device's Bluetooth is in the ON position. The monitor should appear as "PERF BRD" in the Bluetooth device section when searched. If you do not see the device, please cycle power to the board, wait for 30 seconds, and try again by pressing the BLE button on the terminal side of the monitor for 7 seconds.

Once powered up, the monitor enters Bluetooth auto-search mode and is ready for pairing.

With iOS devices, you may have to forget the Bluetooth device (ATMEL_BLE) if it shows up as a connected device in your device's Bluetooth settings.
